Less Spending, Lower Taxes, More Jobs

Having owned and managed a small business for 19 of the past 20 years, I experienced first-hand the devastating effects of Wisconsin state government’s excessive taxing and spending.  Each dollar of taxes my business pays to the state government is a dollar I cannot spend to better pay my employees, bring in new workers, pay for materials and services to expand my business, or donate to charity.  When we pay more taxes to support the wasteful state government, the wealth and well-being of ourselves, our families, and our communities suffer.

As your State Senator, I pledge to oppose tax and fee increases and to introduce and support legislation that will significantly reduce Wisconsin taxes, fees, and wasteful spending.  This is a pledge I have made and kept as Mayor of Tomah.  As Mayor, I have worked hard to decrease residential and business property tax rates.  I even vetoed a budget to accomplish this goal. As Mayor, I have also cut wasteful spending so local government services, including services aiding handicapped individuals and senior citizens, could be maintained and expanded.  As your State Senator, I pledge to fight for cutting the fat in state government so you, your family, and your neighbors can keep more of your own money.  Family wage jobs and prosperity will return to Wisconsin if the state government will just allow you to keep your money in the control of yourself, your family, and your community — instead of wasting your hard-earned money on special interest projects in Madison.
